Waxing
FAQs
Why Wax?
Waxing is the best way to temporary remove unwanted hair. When done correctly, can leave your skin smooth and free of hair for weeks. It is more effective than shaving because the hair is being removed from the root. Which over time causes the hair to regrow lighter and sparse, or not at all.
How long does my hair needs to be?
If you have been shaving and are wanting to switch to waxing, all potential clients must grow out their hair at least 2 weeks before their appointment. For facial waxing, all potential client must grow out their hair at least 4 weeks before their appointment. If you have long hair, DO NOT TRIM. You may over trim and causing your hair to be too short for me to wax. It's just best to come in as is, I will normally work with smaller sections.
How long will the results last?
Appointments are scheduled every 4 weeks. Results vary from person to person and there can be many factors on the results. If this is your first time waxing, keep in mind that the wax may not be as smooth as you were expecting. It can take up to 3-4 sessions for a completely smooth wax, regrowth can occur within 1-2 weeks the first 3-4 months. The consistent you are with waxing and keeping a great skin care regimen in that particular area at home, the longer your results will last (4-6 weeks)
What is the difference between a bikini and a brazilian?
A bikini wax removes all of the hair from your bikini area that would be visible if you were wearing a standard bikini, an extended bikini wax removes hair on the inner thigh, stomach trail and back of upper thigh. Brazilian waxing is the most intimate of all waxing services and removes all of the hair in the bikini area, labia and all hair from your backside as well. Some clients prefer to leave a small amount behind and others prefer to go completely bare, the decision is entirely up to the individual.
Is waxing sanitary?
It is here at Luminescence Skin & Body. There is never any double-dipping of our waxing implements, I always wear gloves for your protection and mine and therefore, no risk of cross-contamination.
Does waxing cause hair to regrow thicker?
No. This is a complete false. Waxing will actually stop hair growth all together in some cases. It is important to keep in mind though that waxing should be used as a temporary hair removal method as the slowing or stopping of hair growth takes many years of consistent waxing.
Can I wax while on my menstrual cycle?
Yes. Even though you may be more sensitive during this time or a couple of days before, you may wax during your menstrual cycle. Please place in a new tampon right before your appointment.
Can I wax while I am pregnant?
Yes, waxing is safe during pregnancy. You may be more sensitive during your pregnancy. If you have any other concerns, please consult with your doctor prior to your appointment.
What type of wax is used?
I use a combination of both soft and hard wax for different services depending on the hair type. All of my waxes are low-temp which uses low heat. All of the waxes used are of the highest quality and the results are superior because of this.
Do you treat men?
YES!
Does it hurt?
It does hurt but pain level varies per person. After your 1st session and staying on a 4-6 week waxing schedule while exfoliating in between, the discomfort level will minimize each wax session.
**DO NOT SHAVE IN BETWEEN YOUR WAXING SERVICES**
